On Saturday, September 24th, Heavy Hitters has reserved Wilson Stadium for the day (9:00-5:00) for some batting practice and good times.
Here is how I'm planning on running this.......
The field will have a batting cage with a pitching machine set up, as well as a pitching machine and screen on the mound of the open field. I am not expecting the masses to turn out for this so between the cage and the field, waiting to hit should be at a minimum. It will be roughly 20 pitches per round, but everyone is entitled to unlimited rounds until I pack it up around 5:00 or so.
We will be raffeling away at least 2 NIW Easton bats, some T-shirts, private cage rentals, and some NIW ASA Dudley Thunder Heat sy's ASA .40 core 375 compression balls. All of the monies coming from the gate entry and raffle tickets will be in one pot. At the end of the day, I will hold a 50/50 raffle of whatever is in that pot. You must be present to win any of the raffle items.
Depending on how many people show up, there has been a bunch of interest in a HR derby of sorts. If time allows and there are some people who want to do this, I might have another NIW bat I could award the winner. If no derby, maybe a varriation of a scrimmage. We have the field all day so who knows what we will all get into.
All the balls are the same Dudley's as listed above. I will have 20+ 2010 and newer Easton bats there for your pleasure. Some USSSA and some ASA. Feel free to bring your own bats, but we are not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged items.
At the gate of the Stadium we will collect $5 from all the participants as an entry fee. For the $5 you will recieve the batting practice session and 5 raffle tickets. Additional raffle tickets can be purchased for $1 each or 7 for $5. The raffle will be held between 3:00 and 5:00 PM.
I'm not putting this on as a money making endeavor. In fact I most likely will be losing my a$$, but Easton has been very good to our business so I want to put their bats in the hands of as many people as possible to allow them to decide for themselves. Also, this is a thank you for all the support and advice I have recieved from many of you peeps on the boards.
Hope to see you there!!!
