I would guess you'll be able to play both. I think it will all depend on the number of teams entered into each class

Why the sudden change of weekends?

It was to try to stay away from a couple big tournaments, but ends up landing on a weekend with 2 other large tournaments. Moving the date this year was to try to up the number of teams that would participate.

WASA had to do something, they weren't drawing any teams. Hopefully the new date brings more teams because its absolutely pathetic what kinda of draw there is now.

have you thought about checking with teams that have participated in the past couple of years to see if they would continue to come if it was a weekend earlier? I know their are about 13 teams from the western side of the state that are usually playing in the other tournament that may skip state to play in the other tournaments...

Is there currently a weekend during the summer that doesn't have any tournaments going on that ASA should move it to? IMO, they should stick to a weekend and not change it. If teams want to play State they'll make it work. I don't think WASA's lack of team particapation is because it's on a bad weekend. In the past people bitched that it was the same weekend as the Fireman's, so WASA changed the date and the teams still went down...

with close to 40% of teams playing at state coming from the western part of the state, some consideradion should have been given to the new dates. the 2 largest tournies (fun fest in new richmond - 48+ teams) and (river falls - 28 teams) . most of the 40% i'm talking about plays in 1 of these tournies. i've talked to only 1 team so far and they are going to forgo state and play river falls. i wonder how many more will follow?

Totally agree with you Bigdawg. I don't see as many teams headed to state to spend that kind of money when they have tournaments just as competitive in their back yard.

BELOW IS 8 OF THE 16 TEAMS THAT PARTICIPATED IN CLASS D STATE. I BELIEVE MOST AND PROBABLY ALL PLAYED IN EITHER FUNFEST OR RIVER FALLS DAYS. WITH THE TOURNAMENT BEING HELD SO FAR AWAY YEAR AFTER YEAR (MARSHFIELD, FOND DU LAC, STEVENS POINT) I WOULD HAVE TO BELIEVE A PORTION OF THESE TEAMS WILL SAVE THE MONEY AND PLAY RIGHT IN THERE BACK YARD. I KNOW IN THE PAST SOME OF THESE TEAMS HAVE PLAYED EACH OTHER AT THE STATE TOURNAMENT AS WELL. THAT IS JUST HOW IT GO'S. BUT TO TRAVEL 3-4 HOURS TO PLAY A TEAM YOU SEE MOST WEEKENDS AND MAYBE LEAGUE AS WELL, MIGHT AS WELL STAY CLOSE TO HOME AND SAVE THE CASH. WE'LL SEE THOUGH. SOME TEAMS WILL STILL GO TO STATE AND OTHERS WILL STAY HOME. BUT THERE IS SOME INTERESTING POINTS TO THIS.
BUFFALO WILD WINGS EAU CLAIRE LONG BALL BAT CO / WILLOW RIVER RIVER FALLS FINISH LINE / WILLOW RIVER / KOZY CORNER HUDSON JOHNNIE'S / CLYDE'S RIVER FALLS MIKE'S BAYTOWN / JOHN HALL'S RIVER FALLS TILERS / PARKSIDE RIVER FALLS COLD BEER RIVER FALLS JCC RIVER FALLS
