Looking for tournaments to participate in the Best of the NW series. The Best of the NW brings together as many tournament finalists from NW WI tournaments as possible for basically a tournament of champions to determine which of these tournament winning teams is the Best of NW WI. 7 tournaments are currently official qualifiers meaning they have agreed to pay the entry fee for their qualifying team to play in the Best of the Northwest, August 19-21 in Siren, WI. We are looking for more tournaments that take place in NW WI to act as official qualifiers, or to at least contact us with info about their winning teams who would like to participate in the tournament. If you run a tournament, or place 1st or 2nd in a tournament between Hwy 13 down to Abbotsford, then west to Eau Claire and over to the MN border and would like to know more or be a part of the Best of the Northwest please contact Reno at: rmothes@aol.com or call 651-341-6612

If your team wins or takes second in any NW WI tournament not listed above and you have interest in playing in the Best of the Northwest, please contact Reno at rmothes@aol.com. Your team will be more than welcome to compete to be the Best of the NW. The entry fee will be $150 if you are qualifying from a tournament not listed. Any tournament in NW WI can qualify you, but only the tournaments listed are "official qualifiers" meaning those tournaments will pay the entry fee for their 1st or 2nd place team to enter the Best of the NW.

The Siren Spring Ting is full. Teams can still sign up and be put on a waiting list in case any drop out. Also full is Syttende Mai Days in Woodville. Talked to the tournament director today and he said they have 16 teams. They are willing to take on 2 more teams, but that would also require some games get played on Thursday night. They have a nice payout set up for that tournament along with being an official qualifier for Best of the NW. Contact info for all qualifiers is listed in a previous post on this thread.
Still in negotiations with other tournaments about becoming official qualifiers and will post if any new ones join.

Results from Siren were: 1st Sweeney's 2nd Axmen tie for 3rd with single elim. Mr. D's & Deer's Meat Market
After a frigid windy Sat. all teams welcomed the warm sunshine of Sunday. Deer's Meat Locker was hot until Axmen cooled them in the semis. Neither team had to face defending champ RES as they came out flat against Best Dam Sports Shop in the #2 vs. #15 game. Also getting upset in that bracket was #6 Subway going down to #11 Off in the Woods. Deer's was the #7 seed and Axmen #3. In the other bracket, Sweeney's was #1 and they played like it throughout. Their game against #9 Finish Line was a high scoring game with both teams getting plenty of hits. Mr. D's as probably the best #13 seed their could be because they played so poorly in pool play got started right on Sunday with a walk-off 2-run bomb in the bottom of the 7th to break the 4-4 tie with Motley Crew. Needless to say, neither team was getting the hits in that game. Crystal Lake Bar couldn't stop the momentum Mr. D's had either. The Cinderella 13 seed finally fell to Sweeney's in a well fought game. In the final Sweeney's was in control early, but Axmen kept plugging away and chipping into the lead each inning. Heading to the 7th it was 20-19 Sweeney's. Axmen kept them scoreless in the top of the 7th. With a man on 1st and 1 out in the bottom, they grounded into a game ending double play.
Sweeney's and Axmen are the first official qualifiers in the Best of the NW for 2016. If one or neither of them accepts the bid, it will be offered to Deer's Meat Locker and Mr. D's respectively.

They waited until the last minute, but Withee is an official qualifier again. The brackets are already done since the tournament is this weekend. Sorry if there were any teams who would have been interested in entering the Withee tournament had they known it was an official qualifier, but I just got confirmation today. Please let me know if your team would have wanted to enter had you known about it being a qualifier, so I can relay that info to the tournament director. I know they don't have a full field of teams this year, either.
