I will contact them tomorrow. Anyone else with ideas and input? Love it? hate it? Would participate? Won't participate?

Dan Pfeffer does something very similar to this most in Minnesota called NorthStarSeries; however, he doesn't do a 'conference' entry fee for teams. Almost all of the big ASA tournaments participate and the year end event is usually well attended. If I were offer any advice, I would suggest contacting him for ideas or to see if maybe we could do a NorthStar east or something along those lines....
I believe his email is dan@northstarseries.com

My thoughts in this is most mid-level teams wont be interested. I love playing against the better teams but as far as paying $250 to start and $175 each tourney to go likely 2-2 at best and most likely 2-n-q will not get you to 32 teams. Do you think you will get teams like Unicomm, Mayhem, Armour,Brewskies,G-man,Precision, Sals,Milwaukee swingmen, or teams like that? I think if you had an "A" and a "B" with top 8 make it to the finals it would be more realistic. Also if you made an entry fee of $125 more people would play these events and you would get a big showing of mid-level teams.

Playa2 - Do you think having an upper and lower would work? Say 16 and 16 - Or 8 and 8?

Like the idea.
- I think a consistent bat/ ball/ hr rule etc., is best.
- I dont like the team fee to enter into the conference. Instead i would be ok with a players card for $5 - $10 per season to help with any administrative costs with left over funds going to run the end of year championship.
- Not sure seeding tourneys are best (until championship) - tournies may start looking all the same. May keep non top teams out because they always have tough draw or same teams to begin each tourney with.

I like this idea -
Everyteam could be entered in the same tourny with seeding in effect (maybe seed top 4 teams then draw out of a hat to see where the other teams go in the bracket)
Then at the end of the year championship the top 8(or16) go into the A bracket and the next 8(or 16) go into the B bracket. If your not in the top 16 you dont qualify for the Conference post season.
The entry fee is neccissary. How much of an entry fee I don't know, but there will be some start up costs to doing this. Maybe some type of entry fee with a combination of a player fee would be appropriate. I don't think anyone would have a problem pitching in 3 to 5 bucks to start this up.

Think the $250 to enter the Conference is very fair. That money could actually provide a nice website, etc to take everything to the next level.
I'd prefer to see the same bat, ball, rules at every conference event also.

Playa2 - I could go on and on about this. Ill keep it simple. These are all events that "mid-level" teams participate in anyways. the $250 fee which will be paid in march will not even be noticed til the end when you see the dynamite Circuit Championship. At some point the mid level teams need to play against teams that they feel "inferior" to. Take softball at the top level, should resmondo be in a conference by themselves? So yes I believe we can attract those teams. This could potentially be something great around here maybe even stronger than any association program in this state. With a signature event to cap off the year.
The first year is going to be hard to have conformity at all events, However its something I will speak with to the tournament directors. If there were enough teams I would like the idea of a A and B conference but we aren't breaking it 8 & 8 we would need many more than 16 to even think about that.
The entry fee is needed. Its going to fund the circuit championship with balls, fields, insurance, umpires, prizes.

In the future I could see having a A & B circuit finals if everything took off.... but for the first year for this to work we'd need some of the mid-level teams to get in as one big circuit (or conference) to show the naysayers that an idea like this works..... so they'd join in year 2 and beyond.
If more than 32 teams wanted in - I could see the A Circuit Finals for the top 1/2 of the point finishers and the B Circuit Finals for the bottom 1/2 of the point finishers.

I like this idea for sure. It would be nice to have the same bat/ball standards for all tournaments though, as there are teams that typically only play one association presently. Would definately like to see this all over the state, we have a great facility here in Stevens Point, and would most likely host a tournament. I know there are some teams that have played in the State tournament up here, and it would be nice to get another weekend up here for everyone.

I sent you a PM Barrel21. Are there teams in Point area that would want to join up and play in something like this? I know having the same ball and bat standard will be the goal, but in year one I would be happy letting current directors keep their tournaments as is and adopting rules for the WSC championship to be used. Hopefully others will follow, but since I won't be running or organizing every tournament it will be hard for conformity. Its a work in progress but thank you for the input.

bg, didn't get the PM...maybe re-send it or shoot me an e-mail....cfield21@gmail.com. As far as teams that would be interested from our area, I would put my squad in it, and there may be a few more. I think it may depend on where the tournaments would all be.

Like the concept if we can make it work, couple other Central located locations in addition to Point. Auburndale Music Fest runs each year usually have 32 teams, believe there was 28 this year. Marshfield runs the MIT this year and I know would be open to additional tournies if the teams show. 16 this year and 24 last year I believe, could accomodate many more and used to but Southern teams have stopped coming last few years.

Music Fest would be a good idea, but I really think the format needs a little tweeking....with 3 fields, it should be a 4gg, in my opinion. Marshfield isn't a bad idea..

That would be awesome if those events would add. It might not draw more teams in year one but it might give opportunity for central teams to qualify and play in the championships at year end.
